Who Are We?
The Navara Institute is a think tank led by researchers from the Global South, dedicated to justice-centered research that benefits the communities most affected by climate change, socioeconomic inequality, and unsustainable development.
We believe research can be a tool for equity, not just analysis, but action. That’s why we work hand-in-hand with communities to generate solutions that are practical, scalable, and rooted in lived experience. Our interdisciplinary team bridges climate science, economics, and place-based development to create models that challenge broken systems and uplift community leadership.
The Problem We’re Solving
Too often, research about vulnerable communities is produced without them. Traditional think tanks rely on top-down models, disconnected from local realities, and the result is policy that doesn’t work, investment that doesn’t reach, and knowledge that misses the mark.
Our Solution
We combine climate science, economic strategy, and community development to co-create research with local actors, turning insight into action and community priorities into policy and investment.
Our Mission
To empower marginalized communities to lead research-based, equitable solutions for climate, economic, and social justice, scaling local knowledge into global impact.
Our Vision
Navara envisions a world where climate resilience, inclusive economies, social progress, and sustainable development are shaped by the communities most affected.
